Fantasytime in Obamaland

It seemed so grim not long ago
Republicans ascending
But now I sense a changing trend
Together with an ending

Of conservative maneuvering and other bully tactics
Used so well and skillfully with all their great theatrics
To undermine reform and change to make a better nation
And other small and big ideas to tame the corporations

Occupying Wall Street in New York and other cities
Changed the tune for everyone and isn’t it a pity
‘Cause now it’s hard for right wing pols to cater to the wealthy
Without the public getting mad and doesn’t that seem healthy

And then at last we watched and heard Barack Obama say
Waiting years and months we did for him to find his way
That the biggest problem in the land is not the budget battle
But injustice and inequity and not the other prattle

And then we get another gift for democrats at least
Which is of course the candidates who want to make their peace
With tea party conservatives who do not want to settle
For a presidential nominee who doesn’t have the mettle

To go for broke and bet the farm
On a simple right wing notion
That the government is much too big
So throw it in the ocean

And now they may have found their man – a former great house speaker
Who knows his mind and blows his horn and won’t be seen as weaker
Than the guy who won three years ago and had a tough first term
But maybe now has figured out just what there is to learn

About the Artist

My name is Chris Hadley, I am 29 years old, from Meraux, Louisiana, and I am a writer/filmmaker, in addition to attending college. I have been involved in writing for most of my life, though mostly in my spare time. I've done some screenwriting, and one of my short stories, a supernatural thriller entitled "The Message", was published in September of this year on the literary web site WritingRaw.com. In addition, I served as a staff writer for the college newspaper for about 2 years. I've spent most of my time though making films, which I've been doing since 2010. A short film I made about St. Bernard Parish, called "Take A Look", won second place in the documentary short-short category at the 2011 Nunez Community College Pelican D'Or Film Festival, which is put on by my school to honor not only student filmmakers, but filmmakers from all around the country and around the world. I look forward to making more documentaries, about subjects that fascinate me, and to make a positive impact with those films.
I am currently blogging at The Hollywood Sound, and a contributing reviewer of film score tracks for Film Score Monthly Online Magazine.
